Daniel Taub- Former United Kingdom Ambassador

Daniel Taub was the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom, with a bit of interesting history behind that; he was born and raised in the country to which he was eventually an ambassador.

Daniel Taub was born in Great Britain in 1962 and eventually went to school at University College in Oxford. He also attended Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. It was shortly after moving to Israel that he began working for the Israeli Defense Forces as a combat medic. He was also a reserve officer in their international law sector. In 1991 he began working for Israeli Foreign Ministry, and since then he has held many diplomatic positions. He served as the ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2011-2015.

Having been born in the United Kingdom and then returning there to serve as the ambassador from Israel, Daniel Taub felt it was a privilege to be able to work to bring his two home countries closer together through diplomacy.

After four years of service, he believes he truly has impacted relations between the two countries, and the Jewish population of the United Kingdom agree. As ambassador, Daniel Taub has been able to bring crises to the government, appear on news media outlets to plead Israel’s case, and have academic sessions with businessmen and women.

Daniel Taub views the United Kingdom as the most important country in Europe. He believes healthy relations between the two countries is vital for Israel’s long term future.

He sees it as his responsibility to help the British government understand the Israeli people and Israeli leadership. He believes it is imperative for the two countries to work together to being to achieve peace considering the turmoil the Middle East is currently in.

Daniel Taub has seen areas where interests align between the United Kingdom and Israel. It is now about figuring out how to move forward and work together to achieve what they hope to.

Daniel Taub has also said that he was an ambassador to Great Britain, not to the Jewish community, however, he has acknowledged how important the Jewish community is to the country.

Although Daniel Taub feels that his time has been productive, he also realizes that time is limited with the job, as demanding as it is.
